Caterpillar plans $1 billion North Carolina investment to expand compact equipment capacity
CAT•Caterpillar plans to invest about $1 billion in North Carolina to expand manufacturing capacity for its Cat Compact equipment business, including a new facility in Sanford.
1. Planned expansion
The new Sanford facility is intended to increase production of compact track loaders and telehandlers. Caterpillar says the site is expected to use automation and digital production systems to improve safety, quality and operational performance, while helping speed deliveries as demand rises.
