CBAK Energy signs investment deal for 12 GWh sodium-ion battery project in Nanjing

Separately, a 6 GWh capacity expansion at its existing Nanjing plant is targeted by year-end 2026, which would lift total capacity to 10.5 GWh.
At full utilization, the company estimated revenue of RMB 2.4 billion to RMB 2.7 billion for the 6 GWh expansion and RMB 4.8 billion to RMB 5.0 billion for the 12 GWh project.
Investment agreement for Nanjing sodium-ion project
CBAK Energy signed an investment agreement for a 12 GWh large cylindrical sodium-ion battery project in Nanjing, Jiangsu.
The production lines will be able to switch between sodium-ion or lithium-ion output, based on demand.
Project scope includes cell manufacturing, module assembly, and battery pack integration. A phased build is planned for the second half of 2027, subject to financing.
