Centrus to Supply HALEU for Five Oklo Aurora Powerhouses Starting 2029
LEU•Centrus will supply HALEU from its American Centrifuge Plant to power up to five Oklo Aurora powerhouses, enabling the planned 1.2 GW campus with deliveries beginning in 2029. The LOI may include Oklo prepayments and precedes a definitive fuel supply contract.
1. Letter of Intent Details
The LOI commits Centrus to supply HALEU to power five Aurora reactors over multiple years, with initial deliveries slated for 2029 from its American Centrifuge Plant in Pike County, Ohio. The agreement outlines potential prepayments by Oklo and sets the stage for a definitive fuel supply contract.
2. Strategic and Economic Impact
The project supports Oklo’s planned 1.2 GW campus in southern Ohio, attracting multi-billion-dollar private investment and creating over 700 construction roles plus 40–50 permanent jobs per powerhouse. Centrus’s Piketon expansion is also expected to generate 1,000 construction jobs and 300 operating roles, bolstering domestic HALEU capacity.
3. Next Steps and Timeline
Oklo and Centrus will negotiate a definitive agreement covering delivery schedules, pricing and prepayment terms while collaborating with Kiewit Nuclear Solutions on engineering, procurement and construction planning. Final contract execution is targeted ahead of the 2029 delivery start to align fuel supply certainty with reactor deployment milestones.
