Ceva Rolls Out IEEE 802.15.4ab UWB IP with 30x Range, 4x Data Speed
Ceva has launched the industry’s first IEEE 802.15.4ab-compliant Ultra-Wideband IP offering up to 30x extended ranging and 4x faster data rates for secure access, positioning, radar and high-performance data applications. The Ceva-Waves UWB IP is available now for licensing and targets consumer, automotive and industrial systems.
1. Product Launch
Ceva has introduced its next-generation Ceva-Waves UWB IP, marking the industry’s first compliance with the IEEE 802.15.4ab standard. The solution is available immediately for licensing and is positioned for integration into consumer electronics, automotive systems and industrial deployments.
2. Key Technical Innovations
The Ceva-Waves IP delivers up to 30x extended ranging through advanced multi-millisecond (MMS) techniques and narrowband-assisted architectures, while offering 4x higher data rates for applications such as high-accuracy RTLS, low-latency peripherals and combined ranging-and-radar sensing. Enhanced channel utilization and reduced localization cycles ensure ultra-low power consumption without increasing silicon footprint.
3. Market and Applications Outlook
UWB shipments surpassed 563 million units in 2025 and are projected to exceed 1.4 billion annually by 2030 as applications expand from digital keys and trackers into behind-the-wall positioning, radar sensing and advanced data communications. Ceva’s IP aims to capitalize on this growth by enabling scalable, secure and energy-efficient deployments across multiple sectors.
4. Ecosystem Readiness and Partnerships
To accelerate adoption of IEEE 802.15.4ab, Ceva is collaborating with LitePoint on early validation and test solutions, ensuring interoperability and faster time-to-market for device manufacturers. This partnership supports comprehensive test and measurement capabilities aligned with evolving UWB standards.
