1. Inauguration of Oak Manor Inpatient Center

VITAS Healthcare opened its inaugural inpatient hospice center on March 11 at 3500 Oak Manor Lane in Largo, marking the first facility of its kind in Pinellas County. The company invited community healthcare leaders, local elected officials and Central Pinellas Chamber representatives to celebrate the launch and ribbon cutting.

2. Capacity and Services

The 12-room center is designed for high-acuity care with features such as 24/7 clinical oversight, compassionate extubation services, pain and medication management, psychosocial support, bariatric beds and handicap-accessible rooms. Two landscaped courtyards provide outdoor reflection spaces for patients and families.

3. Strategic Expansion in Pinellas County

Following the launch of home-based hospice services in November 2025, the new inpatient center strengthens the care continuum for patients whose symptoms are unmanageable at home. It is expected to serve over 400 patients and families annually, offering respite care and expert symptom management close to home.

4. Regional Employment and Growth

To support regional growth, VITAS is recruiting both clinical and nonclinical staff across Pinellas County. The expansion aligns with the company’s nearly 50-year record as a leading end-of-life care provider operating in 59 service areas nationwide.
