Cheniere signs 22-year LNG supply deal with Petrobras
LNG•Cheniere Energy said its marketing unit signed a 22-year agreement for Petrobras to buy about 0.8 million tonnes of LNG per year on a free-on-board basis.
1. Supply agreement
Petrobras agreed to purchase approximately 0.8 million tonnes of LNG per year from Cheniere Marketing under the 22-year deal. Cheniere CEO Jack Fusco said the agreement provides “additional commercial support and fixed fee cash flow visibility to underpin further brownfield liquefaction capacity growth.”
2. Company context
The deal adds to Petrobras’ efforts to reduce exposure to volatile spot LNG prices and secure supply flexibility for Brazil’s gas and power market. Cheniere also signed a long-term supply deal with Taiwan’s CPC Corp in February, covering up to 1.2 million tonnes per year from 2026 through 2050.
