China used-car transactions near new-car sales as demand falls, DSC Holdings says
DSC•China recorded 9.71 million used-car transactions in the first half of 2026, up 1.5% year over year, while new-car sales fell 21.1% to 9.92 million, DSC Holdings said.
1. Sales converge
Used-car transactions in China nearly matched new-car sales in the first half of 2026, according to DSC Holdings’ inaugural China used-car report. The convergence reflected falling new-car demand rather than stronger used-car demand.
2. Prices and dealers
Used-car prices fell 23.1% from the first half of 2022, compared with an 11.2% decline for new cars. Dealer profitability deteriorated across all size tiers, and 28.7% of dealers selling fewer than 50 vehicles annually remained profitable.
