Chinese vaccine makers jump on news of key success in cancer treatment

HK-listed shares of Chinese vaccine makers rallied, while China's CSI Vaccine and Biotech Index .CSI931992 jumped 9.2% after Moderna MRNA.O and Merck MRK.N on Wednesday announced a major success in a new field of cancer treatment.

CanSino Biologics's Hong Kong shares 6185.HK soared as much as 71.4% to HK$40, their highest point since January 2; Shanghai shares 688185.SS jumped 20% to their highest level since May 25.

Genscript Biotech Corp 1548.HK jumped nearly 20% to HK$35.22, highest level since December 2021.

Sino Biopharmaceutical 1177.HK surged as much as 21.2% to HK$5.805, the highest since May 12.

Akeso Inc 9926.HK, Innovent Biologics 1801.HK, WuXi Biologics 2269.HK were up between 3.1% and 5.7%.
