Ciena Debuts Vesta 200 6.4T CPX with 70% Power Cut for 200G/Lane AI Networks
Ciena launched Vesta 200 6.4T CPX, a pluggable co-packaged optical engine offering 6.4T capacity at 200G per lane and reducing power consumption by up to 70% versus retimed solutions. The module leverages 2D fiber interconnect and an open IEEE802.3dj ecosystem to enable high-density, energy-efficient AI cluster networking.
1. Product Launch
Ciena introduced Vesta 200 6.4T CPX, its newest pluggable co-packaged optical engine delivering 6.4T aggregate capacity on 200G-per-lane host ASICs, designed to address surging AI workload demands in hyperscale and cloud data centers.
2. Technical Innovations
The Vesta 200 CPX features a retimer-free linear-drive design supporting up to 20 dB of electrical loss budget, unique 2D fiber interconnect technology and CPX compression-free connectors, enabling up to 70% lower power consumption compared to traditional retimed optics.
3. Ecosystem Integration
Built for an open, multi-vendor CPO ecosystem, Vesta 200 CPX complies with IEEE802.3dj optical interface standards and promotes interoperability across ASIC, optical and electrical interconnect suppliers, with demonstrations planned at OFC 2026 in Los Angeles.
