Ciena partnered with Quantum Corridor and Toshiba to complete a high-speed quantum-safe networking trial on a live Midwest commercial fiber network.
The trial validated 1.6 Tb/s encrypted optical connectivity between Chicago and Hammond using Waveserver with WaveLogic 6 Extreme quantum-safe encryption.
The deployment used a hybrid security model combining NIST-certified post-quantum cryptography with interoperability with Toshiba quantum key distribution keying.
The test also ran 800G encrypted traffic on the same photonic line system, signaling a migration path without replacing existing infrastructure.
