Clearway Energy Names Michael Brown General Counsel Effective June 1

Effective June 1, 2026, Clearway Energy’s general counsel Kevin P. Malcarney will retire from his role after eight years. He will be succeeded by Michael A. Brown, who returns to Clearway after serving as assistant general counsel and corporate secretary at The New York Times Company.

1. Executive Counsel Retirement

Clearway Energy announced that Kevin P. Malcarney, who has served as Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary since May 2018, will retire on June 1, 2026, after overseeing legal, compliance and governance initiatives for eight years. He will remain as a non-executive employee through June 26 to ensure a smooth handover.

2. Appointment of Michael A. Brown

Michael A. Brown will succeed Malcarney as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary effective June 1, 2026. Brown most recently served as Vice President, Assistant General Counsel and Corporate Secretary at The New York Times Company since March 2023 and previously held senior legal roles at Clearway from 2018 to 2021.

3. Transition Timeline
