CME Group quarterly profit rises as market volatility boosts equity index volume

July 22 (Reuters) - Derivatives exchange CME Group reported a rise in its second-quarter profit on Wednesday, as it benefited from heightened equity market volatility, encouraging more investors to hedge their positions.
Adjusted profit attributable to the common shareholders of the company came in at $1.08 billion, or $2.99 per share, for the three months ended June 30, compared with $1.07 billion, or $2.96 per share, in the year-ago period.
