Corning secured a multiyear fiber-optic cable deal with Meta Platforms valued at up to $6 billion to equip U.S. AI data centers. This multiyear agreement underpins Corning's fastest-growing Optical Communications segment revenue pipeline.

1. Q4 Earnings Outperform Expectations

Corning reported adjusted earnings of $0.72 per share for the fourth quarter, exceeding the consensus estimate of $0.70 and marking a 26% year-over-year increase from $0.57. Revenue reached $4.41 billion, topping analysts’ $4.36 billion consensus and reflecting a 14% rise compared with the prior year period. The beat was driven by strong demand across multiple segments, with Optical Communications leading the charge and Display technologies providing a stabilizing contribution despite a slight decline.

2. Optical Communications Drives Growth

The Optical Communications segment delivered revenue of $1.7 billion, up 24% year over year, fueled by robust Gen-AI data center orders and continuing enterprise network buildouts. This performance underscores Corning’s leadership in fiber-optic technology, where next-generation products such as its high-density Contour cable have already secured large contracts with hyperscale customers. The segment’s margin expansion contributed disproportionately to the quarter’s overall earnings uplift.

3. Forward Guidance and Enhanced Springboard Plan

For the first quarter, Corning projects core sales between $4.2 billion and $4.3 billion—implying approximately 15% year-over-year growth—and core earnings of $0.66 to $0.70 per share. The company also bolstered its multiyear Springboard growth initiative, raising the incremental annualized sales target to $11 billion by the end of 2028 (up from $8 billion) and increasing the 2026 sales growth goal to $6.5 billion from $6.0 billion, reflecting confidence in its innovation pipeline and operational scalability.

4. Strategic Meta Agreement and Capacity Expansion

Corning secured a multiyear optical fiber and connectivity hardware agreement valued at up to $6 billion with a leading cloud infrastructure operator. To fulfill this commitment, the company plans to expand its North Carolina manufacturing footprint, adding production lines capable of producing over eight million miles of fiber annually. This deal not only anchors Corning’s role in the AI data center boom but also accelerates its capital investment program to support long-term network buildouts.
