The Czech and Italian prime ministers agreed on a package of proposals for the upcoming European Union leaders' summit to ease energy and carbon prices, the Czech government office said.
2. Proposed measures
The package includes altering use of the EU reserve pool for carbon credits, adding flexibility to free-credit allocations for exposed industries, temporarily lowering the impact of carbon prices on electricity production, easing methane regulations and monitoring positions in carbon allowances. It also proposes delaying the introduction of the second phase of the EU emissions trading system.
