Deals of the day: Mergers and acquisitions
GFI•A.P. Moller Capital agreed to acquire a majority stake in Euroports, while Northern Star Resources rejected Gold Fields’ A$38.7 billion ($27.1 billion) takeover proposal; Agfa and EFI will combine a unit, and Temasek bought a 9% stake in FSI’s management company.
1. Ports and gold deals
A.P. Moller Capital, the infrastructure investment arm of Denmark’s A.P. Moller Group, said it had agreed to acquire a majority stake in European ports operator Euroports. Australia’s Northern Star Resources said it rejected an unsolicited A$38.7 billion ($27.1 billion) takeover proposal from South Africa’s Gold Fields.
2. Other transactions
Belgian imaging and IT firm Agfa will combine its digital printing unit with Siris’ industrial inkjet maker EFI to form a jointly owned global business. Singapore state investor Temasek bought a 9% minority stake in the management company of Milan-based private equity group FSI and committed additional capital for future investments.
