Delta to Cut Snacks and Drinks on 450+ Flights Under 350 Miles from May 19

DALDAL

On May 19 Delta Air Lines will cut free snack and beverage service on over 450 Delta Main and Comfort flights under 350 miles, eliminating express or full offerings on trips typically under an hour. Flights over 350 miles will receive full snack and drink service while Delta First Class remains unchanged.

1. Service Policy Change

Beginning May 19, Delta Air Lines will adjust its onboard beverage and snack policy by restricting complimentary service on Delta Main and Delta Comfort cabins to flights of 350 miles or longer. Express service, previously available on routes of 251–349 miles, will be discontinued on over 450 flights while full service remains on longer flights and First Class is unaffected.

2. Routes and Affected Flights

Over 450 flights covering routes under 350 miles—typically those under an hour in duration—will lose complimentary coffee, tea, cookies and other snacks. For example, a 270-mile ATL–JAX trip will no longer include express service, whereas a 400-mile ATL–MCO journey will upgrade from express to full snack and beverage offerings.

3. Potential Operational Impacts

By eliminating service on shorter Main and Comfort routes, Delta aims to create a more consistent network experience and reduce in-flight service costs. While this may trim onboard expense, the move could prompt increased in-flight purchases or membership upgrades as passengers seek alternative access to food and drink on shorter flights.
