The Public Service Commission of South Carolina approved Duke Energy’s PowerShare Storage program for commercial and industrial customers, offering bill credits for qualifying energy storage enrollment. Participants earn up to $120/kW connectivity credits, $30/kW renewable charging credits, $3.50/kW monthly capacity credits and $0.10/kWh curtailment credits for up to 36 discharge events annually.
The South Carolina PSC approved Duke Energy’s PowerShare Storage program on May 27, 2026, expanding demand response to commercial, industrial, government and other nonresidential customers by integrating customer-sited battery systems as flexible grid resources.
Participants receive a one-time $120/kW connectivity credit, an additional $30/kW credit for renewable-charged systems, $3.50 per enrolled kW monthly capacity credits and $0.10 per kWh during curtailment events for up to 36 discharge events each year.
By deploying stored energy during peak demand periods, the program aims to bolster reliability, accommodate more renewable generation and reduce system costs, complementing Duke Energy’s existing residential battery flexibility solutions and supporting winter and summer peak management.
Nonresidential customers may opt out of up to four events per year, including two in winter, while remaining eligible for credits; PowerShare Storage will begin operations in South Carolina in August 2026.
