Eco Wave Power Completes Sub-$1M Port of LA Pilot, Secures Key Permits
Eco Wave Power submitted its final project completion report to Shell, concluding a sub-$1m pilot at AltaSea, Port of Los Angeles that met all milestones from permitting through operational testing. The pilot secured U.S. Army Corps NWP 52 and Port of LA permits and showed minimal environmental impact.
1. Pilot Completion Report Submitted
Eco Wave Power delivered the final project completion report to Shell, marking the formal conclusion of the Pilot Test Agreement. The report confirms that all phases—from feasibility and engineering design through fabrication, installation and operational testing—were successfully executed at AltaSea in the Port of Los Angeles.
2. Project Execution and Results
The pilot advanced through a milestone-based program, achieving permitting, manufacturing and on-site installation under real marine conditions. Operational tests demonstrated reliable energy capture and integration with existing coastal infrastructure without offshore construction or subsea cabling.
3. Regulatory and Environmental Approvals
All required authorizations were obtained, including U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nationwide Permit 52 and Port of Los Angeles Revocable Permit RP25-05. Environmental reviews under NEPA and CEQA confirmed minimal impact, supporting the onshore wave energy approach.
4. Commercial and Strategic Outlook
Total capital cost remained below $1 million, illustrating cost-effectiveness versus traditional offshore systems. The pilot establishes a technical and regulatory foundation for future commercial-scale deployments and could accelerate partnerships with major energy companies.
