Ecopetrol Secures Six-Year Agreement with Oil Workers Union, 66 Unions
EC•Ecopetrol reached a six-year collective bargaining agreement with the Oil Workers Union effective Jan. 1, 2026 after 990 sessions and signed 66 additional pacts covering working conditions, health and education benefits, diversity initiatives and social investment. Formalization is imminent, securing labor peace while preserving cost discipline.
1. Final Collective Bargaining Agreement Reached
On June 13, 2026 Ecopetrol and the Oil Workers Union (USO) concluded negotiations on a six-year collective bargaining agreement effective January 1, 2026 after more than 990 bargaining sessions. The company also finalized 66 separate pacts with other participating unions.
2. Agreed Improvements and Initiatives
The agreements include enhanced working conditions, increased health and education benefits, expanded diversity, equity and inclusion programs, and boosted social investment measures. These provisions aim to improve employee welfare and align with Ecopetrol’s principles of efficiency and cost discipline.
3. Formalization and Next Steps
Ecopetrol expects to file the agreement with the Ministry of Labor imminently, after which joint nationwide sessions will be held to present the details to employees. The resolution of labor negotiations secures uninterrupted operations and mitigates strike risk over the next six years.
