Edible Garden Secures $6.3M Tax Incentives for $25M RTD Beverage Hub Expansion
EDBL•Edible Garden won approval for up to $6.3 million in performance-based tax increment financing over 15 years to support redevelopment of its Webster City Prairie Hills facility into a ready-to-drink beverage hub. This incentive builds on $2.66 million previously awarded and underpins a $25 million investment to produce over 100 million units annually.
1. Incentive Approval Details
Webster City Council approved a performance-based tax increment financing agreement of up to $6.3 million, payable in 30 semi-annual installments over a 15-year period starting in late 2029. Payments depend on project completion milestones, property ownership, and compliance with Iowa’s Business Incentives for Growth program, and are funded solely from new local property tax revenues.
2. Facility Redevelopment and Capacity
The financing supports Edible Garden’s planned $25 million-plus modernization of its 400,000-square-foot Prairie Hills facility into a high-capacity ready-to-drink beverage manufacturing hub. The project leverages proprietary processing systems and Tetra Pak’s aseptic packaging technology to scale production to over 100 million RTD units annually for national distribution.
3. Strategic and Growth Impact
This expansion advances Edible Garden’s Farm-to-Formula® strategy by targeting higher-margin, shelf-stable nutrition categories and strengthening regional supply chains. The project is expected to drive job creation, boost demand for local agricultural and dairy inputs, and enhance long-term value through sustainable manufacturing and distribution capabilities in Iowa.
