2. Los Angeles County DA Probe Over Eaton Fire

The Los Angeles County District Attorney has opened a criminal investigation into whether Edison’s maintenance or operations of an idle transmission line triggered the January 2025 Eaton Canyon wildfire that killed 19. Edison warns it could face material, uninsured fines or restitution if found non-compliant, and any penalties would fall outside insurance, the Wildfire Fund and rate recovery.
