Electrovaya to Deploy 1.2 MWh Battery System Under $5 M DOE Award for Data Center
Electrovaya will deploy a 1.2 MWh Infinity Battery Technology system in a Binghamton University data center under a $5 million DOE CiFER award to demonstrate peak shaving, backup power and load management. The project with LiiON, Eaton and PNNL emphasizes domestic supply chain alignment for data center energy storage deployment.
1. DOE-Funded 1.2 MWh Data Center Project
Electrovaya is participating in a $5 million U.S. Department of Energy Critical Facility Energy Resilience (CiFER) grant led by Binghamton University to design and deploy a 1.2 MWh battery system at the university’s ES2 data center test environment.
2. Deployment of Infinity Battery Technology
The company will supply its proprietary Infinity Battery Technology, known for enhanced safety, thermal stability and extended cycle life, to demonstrate peak shaving, backup power and load management in a real-world data center setting.
3. Consortium Partners and Strategic Benefits
The initiative includes LiiON, Eaton and Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, focusing on domestic supply chain alignment and scalable system architecture to support Electrovaya’s U.S. manufacturing expansion and advance resilient energy storage for critical infrastructure.
