Eli Lilly Pledges $30M Upfront, $770M Milestones for BrainTransporter Therapy
LLY•Eli Lilly will pay BioArctic $30 million upfront and could make up to $770 million in milestone payments under a collaboration to develop neurodegenerative treatments using BioArctic’s BrainTransporter platform. BioArctic is eligible for mid-single-digit royalties on sales while Lilly retains global development and commercialization rights.
1. Collaboration Terms
Eli Lilly and BioArctic have entered a research and collaboration agreement to develop a new neurodegenerative disease therapy by combining BioArctic’s BrainTransporter platform with a Lilly molecule.
2. Financial Structure
BioArctic receives a $30 million upfront payment and could earn up to $770 million in milestone payments, plus tiered mid-single-digit royalties on future global sales if the candidate achieves approval.
3. BrainTransporter Platform
BioArctic’s BrainTransporter technology is designed to target the transferrin receptor to ferry therapeutics across the blood-brain barrier, aiming to improve drug distribution, efficacy, safety, and dosing in neurological treatments.
4. Development and Commercialization
Lilly assumes full responsibility for the global development and commercialization of the resulting drug candidate, while BioArctic retains rights to use its BrainTransporter platform in areas outside the scope of its existing collaborations.
