Latin American equities dropped to nearly a two-month low on Tuesday, while most currencies also slipped as global bond yields surged and the U.S. dollar strengthened, weighing on sentiment.
U.S. Treasury yields climbed to multi-year highs, signaling that markets are bracing for prolonged disruption to global energy supplies with no signs of a breakthrough to end the Middle East conflict.
Brent crude reached its highest level since late last month after fresh signals from Washington and Tehran ruled out the possibility of a near-term end to the conflict.
Treasury yields and rate expectations pressure risk assets
The yield on the 30-year U.S. Treasury bond, a benchmark for global borrowing costs, was at its highest level since June 2007.
