AMZN•The Television Academy and Amazon announced a six-year deal making Prime Video the exclusive global home of the Emmys starting with the 2027 ceremony. The show will remain live in September and free worldwide; financial terms were not disclosed.
1. Six-year agreement
The Television Academy and Amazon announced a six-year deal giving Prime Video exclusive global rights to the Emmy Awards beginning with the 2027 ceremony. The agreement ends the show's rotation among ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC, which concludes with this year's ceremony.
2. Free global viewing
The ceremony will continue to air live in September and will be available free worldwide, with no Prime Video subscription required, Amazon said. The financial terms were not disclosed.
3. Streaming shift
The deal adds a major live entertainment property to Prime Video. Organizers of the Academy Awards said last year that the Oscars would move from ABC to YouTube for a worldwide live stream starting in 2029.
