Energy-Led Rally Holds 50-Day Support as S&P 500 Ends 2025 Up 16.39%
On the first trading day of 2026, the S&P 500 rose as energy stocks led gains and the index held its 50-day moving average. In the prior session the S&P 500 slipped 0.74% to 6,845.50 but still ended 2025 up 16.39%, marking its third straight double-digit annual increase.
