Eni JV Launches 150 mscf/d Gas Production at Quiluma Field

EE

Eni’s 50:50 joint venture Azule Energy has begun gas production at Angola’s Quiluma field with an initial 150 million standard cubic feet per day output, set to scale to 330 mscf/d by year-end. Gas will be processed at a 400 mscf/d Soyo plant and exported via Angola LNG.

1. Gas Production Begins at Quiluma

Azule Energy, a 50:50 joint venture between bp and Eni, has initiated gas output at the Quiluma field in shallow Angolan waters with an initial rate of 150 million standard cubic feet per day. The New Gas Consortium holds the license, with Azule operating on a 37.4% stake alongside CABGOC (31%), Sonangol E&P (19.8%) and TotalEnergies (11.8%).

2. Onshore Processing and Export

Produced gas is transported via pipeline to a 400 mscf/d treatment plant in Soyo, which was inaugurated in November 2025, before delivery to the Angola LNG facility for liquefaction and export. This infrastructure enables the project to increase output to 330 mscf/d by the end of the year.

3. Strategic Importance for Eni

As Angola’s first non-associated gas development, the Quiluma start-up enhances Eni’s gas portfolio and contributes to its over 230,000 boe/d production base. The project underpins Eni’s growth strategy in Africa and supports long-term LNG export revenue.
