Eni restarted operations at Venezuela’s Junín-5 heavy oil field on October 28, following a production-sharing contract signed September 2. Phase 1 targets production of 200,000 barrels per day by 2028. Eni is the sole operator, with full responsibility for technical, financial and commercial management.
2. Development plans
Development includes restoring abandoned wells and drilling new ones, using existing infrastructure. The onshore field in the Orinoco Belt contains 35 billion barrels of certified oil in place.
