Eni Uncovers 2 Tcf and 330 Bcf Gas Discoveries in Egypt
E•Eni-led ventures uncovered three gas fields in Egypt since April, including the 2 Tcf Denise West offshore find and the onshore South Bostan-1X field with 330 Bcf gas and 70 million boe reserves. Proximity to existing Eni infrastructure could accelerate low-cost development and support upstream production growth.
1. Recent Discoveries Overview
Between April and May, Eni and its partners announced three significant Egyptian gas finds: the 2 trillion cubic feet Denise West offshore discovery, the Nile Delta’s 50 million cubic feet per day Nidoco N-2 field, and the South Bostan-1X onshore field with 330 Bcf of gas and 70 million boe reserves.
2. Field Details and Infrastructure
Denise West lies adjacent to Eni-operated Mediterranean pipelines, offering a fast-track development option, while Nidoco N-2 will add production via the Petrobel joint venture. South Bostan-1X’s onshore location in the Western Desert taps mature acreage with existing processing facilities, limiting upfront capex and logistics.
3. Implications for Eni’s Production
These discoveries bolster Eni’s reserve replacement and could partially offset declines in mature fields. Quick integration with current infrastructure may lift Eni’s upstream output, improve gas export capacity and support margin expansion in a high-demand regional market.
