Ensign Acquires 17 Texas Facilities, 95-Unit Wisconsin Communities

The Ensign Group acquired 17 Texas nursing and senior living facilities, adding over 2,000 beds and 100 units, plus two Wisconsin communities with 95 units, effective May 1. These deals boost Ensign’s portfolio to 395 facilities across 17 states and increase owned real estate assets to 179 properties.

1. Texas Facility Acquisitions

Ensign, through its captive real estate company Standard Bearer Healthcare REIT, acquired the real estate and operations of 17 skilled nursing and senior living facilities in Texas, including 125-bed Willow Park Rehabilitation in Willow Park and 150-bed Southern Oaks in Dallas, along with locations in Houston, San Antonio and regional markets. These additions bring over 2,000 skilled nursing beds and 100 assisted living units into Ensign’s network, effective May 1.

2. Wisconsin Purchases and Portfolio Impact

The company also purchased Emerald Ridge of Neenah, a 45-unit residential care apartment complex, and Anna’s House Assisted Living, a 50-unit community-based residential facility in Wisconsin, under long-term triple net leases. Combined with the Texas acquisitions, these deals expand Ensign’s healthcare portfolio to 395 operations across 17 states and increase Standard Bearer’s owned real estate assets to 179 properties.

3. Growth Strategy and Outlook

Barry Port, Ensign’s CEO, highlighted the strategic alignment of these properties with existing market clusters and reaffirmed the company’s active pursuit of additional skilled nursing and senior living real estate opportunities, targeting both high-performing and turnaround assets nationwide.
