Eos Energy Begins Battery Line 2 Production, Targets 4 GWh Capacity by 2026 End
EOSE•Eos Energy Enterprises has commenced commercial production on Battery Line 2 at its Thorn Hill facility in Pennsylvania, following successful Site Acceptance Testing and expanding its automated zinc-based battery manufacturing to support a growing contracted backlog. The new line cuts raw material travel by 86% and production flow length by 40%, advancing the company toward 4 GWh annual capacity by year-end 2026.
1. Commercial Production Launch
Eos Energy Enterprises has initiated commercial production on Battery Line 2 at its Thorn Hill facility in Marshall Township, Pennsylvania, following successful Site Acceptance Testing. The startup marks the company’s transition from pilot operations to scalable manufacturing, enabling automated production of zinc-based long-duration energy storage systems.
2. Manufacturing Improvements
Battery Line 2 integrates single-piece flow architecture, advanced pick-and-place gantry systems and enhanced process redundancy, improving throughput and operational efficiency. The line design reduces raw material travel by 86% and shortens production flow length by 40%, minimizing handling complexity.
3. Capacity Expansion and Ramp Schedule
Production on Line 2 will ramp through 2026, with subassembly capabilities coming online in early Q3 and full commercial output targeted in Q4. These additions advance Eos toward its goal of delivering 4 GWh of annualized manufacturing capacity by year-end.
4. Demand and Backlog Support
The expanded capacity supports growing customer demand and execution of a 2 GWh capacity reservation agreement with Frontier Power USA, including a 480 MWh battery project portfolio in Texas. Potential U.K. deployments in Scotland, totaling approximately 2.8 GWh, further underscore rising market interest in Eos Z3 Indensity™ systems.
