Equinor to supply bio-methanol from late 2026; finds 4–8m barrels oil, 5–9m boe gas
Equinor will supply bio-methanol to Wallenius Wilhelmsen from late 2026 under a two-year deal, with bunkering planned at Zeebrugge and Antwerp for its dual-fuel RoRo vessels. The company also discovered 4–8 million barrels of oil at Troll’s Byrding C and 5–9 million boe of gas and condensate at Sleipner’s Frida Kahlo.
1. Bio-Methanol Supply Deal
Equinor will deliver bio-methanol to Wallenius Wilhelmsen under a two-year contract starting late 2026, with bunkering scheduled at Zeebrugge and Antwerp. The fuel, produced via a mass-balance system at the Tjeldbergodden facility with biogas certificates, will power new dual-fuel RoRo vessels to reduce marine emissions.
2. North Sea Discoveries
Equinor announced two near-field finds: 4–8 million barrels of oil at Byrding C in the Troll area and 5–9 million boe of gas and condensate at Frida Kahlo in Sleipner. Both discoveries are close to existing infrastructure, enabling fast development and potential production from April.
