European Commission granted Alphabet a 30-day extension to answer its March phase-two antitrust charges over Google’s adtech operations, moving the response deadline to June 7. The delay postpones the EU’s final decision on alleged dominance in digital advertising auctions.

1. EU Extends Deadline in Antitrust Investigation

On May 8 the European Commission approved Alphabet’s request for a 30-day extension in its phase-two antitrust inquiry into Google’s ad technology unit. The probe, opened in March over concerns that Google’s auction and ad delivery systems may unfairly favor its own services, now requires Alphabet to submit its detailed rebuttal by June 7, delaying the regulator’s final ruling.
