EU grants BioNTech-Pfizer XFG-targeted COVID shot approval for 2026-27 season

The European Commission granted EU marketing authorization for Pfizer-BioNTech’s XFG-adapted monovalent COVID-19 vaccine for the 2026-2027 season.

Authorization covers active immunization from 6 months of age across the EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway.

The companies said they started manufacturing at risk, and shipments are set to begin shortly to support the seasonal rollout.
