Euro zone bond selloff resumes on strong activity data, rising oil prices
TLT•German and French yields climb further
The yield on Germany's 10-year bond, the benchmark for the euro zone, was last 8 basis points higher at 3.532%. Bond yields move inversely with prices.
The selloff was sharper in other countries within the bloc, with France's 10-year yield up 12 bps to 4.613%, its highest since 2008.
France has been under particular scrutiny in recent weeks as it heads towards a 2027 election year and grapples with budget risks stemming from its fragmented parliament.
The spread between French and German 10-year yields rose to 108 bps, indicating that investors were requiring an even greater premium to hold French bonds over their German peers.
