Europe before the bell: Futures higher as oil retreats
EWG•European stock index futures rose on Friday as oil prices slipped after U.S. President Donald Trump said the United States would not attack Iran before the midterm elections. Euro STOXX 50 futures gained 0.6%, while DAX, CAC and FTSE futures rose 0.7% to 0.8%.
1. European futures rise
European stock index futures were higher on Friday after oil prices slipped following President Donald Trump's statement that the United States would not attack Iran before the midterm elections. Euro STOXX 50 futures rose 0.6% after the index fell to its lowest since mid-June the previous day; DAX, CAC and FTSE futures gained between 0.7% and 0.8%.
2. Telecom shares in focus
Deutsche Telekom was in focus after SpaceX struck a deal to acquire a low-band spectrum portfolio in the United States. T-Mobile US shares fell 6% after hours, and Deutsche Telekom holds a 54% stake in the company, LSEG data showed.
