European software, data stocks slip after Google expands Gemini to legal use
Other software names edge lower
Other names in the sphere — Planisware, TeamViewer, Dassault Systemes, SAP and Sopra Steria — edged down between 1% and 1.5%.
European software and data stocks fall
European software and data companies fell after Alphabet's Google expanded its Gemini Enterprise AI platform with new tools for lawyers and law firms, which might impact the competitive landscape.
Capgemini and Wolters Kluwer lead declines
French corporate services firm Capgemini and Amsterdam-listed software maker Wolters Kluwer fell the most, 3.3% and 4.2%, respectively.
Trader sees some overlap, but limited replacement risk
A trader said the announcement may create some competitive overlap, but flagged that Gemini lacks proprietary access to deep, verified case-law databases and regulatory archives.
"Google's legal plug-ins actively connect Gemini to existing legal industry software and databases rather than replacing them," the trader said, adding that admin automation and workflow saturation might be the most impacted areas.
