Everest Group warns R&D divide widens as 23% of leaders spend 11%-20% of revenue
SPY•Everest Group analysis found 23% of surveyed R&D leaders spend 11%-20% of revenue on R&D, while more than 90% of businesses plan to raise spending over the next year, with AI a major priority.

A survey of 260 global R&D leads found that 23% of leaders spend 11%-20% of revenue on R&D, and 5.6% spend more than 20%. More than 90% of businesses plan to increase R&D outlays over the next year, with AI a major investment priority. Some 14.2% of leaders expect spending to rise by more than 10%, compared with 8.5% overall; leaders are also more likely to pursue partnerships, startup tie-ups, acquisitions, or VC/PE funding.
