Exelon utilities seek bids for 44 MW Maryland battery storage buildout
EXC•Maryland battery storage procurement
Exelon utilities BGE, Delmarva Power and Pepco have moved to procure 43.5 MW of battery storage in Maryland.
The systems would charge during higher supply periods and discharge during peak demand, aiming to ease regional power costs.
The capacity target is enough to supply about 9,000 homes. The projects are to be built and operated by third-party developers under long-term contracts.
Notices of intent are due Aug. 31, 2026, and final bids are due Sept. 28, 2026.
