Fabrinet Secures 1,500-Unit Tooling Deal for Q2 2026 Aurora Truck Hardware
Fabrinet will produce up to 1,500 units of Aurora’s second-generation self-driving truck hardware, with tooling capacity secured for Q2 2026 launch. The partnership targets a production ramp to roughly 20 hardware kits per week in H2 2026, driving incremental manufacturing revenue.
1. Partnership Scope and Terms
Fabrinet has been selected to tool Aurora Innovation’s second-generation autonomous trucking hardware, securing capacity for approximately 1,500 units. The agreement covers tooling design, assembly and testing, positioning Fabrinet as the primary contract manufacturer for Aurora’s new sensor and compute modules.
2. Production Schedule and Capacity
Tooling rollout is scheduled for Q2 2026, with operational capacity enabling a ramp to about 20 hardware kits per week in the back half of the year. At that rate, Fabrinet could assemble roughly 520 units during H2 2026, representing the bulk of its contracted capacity.
3. Financial and Operational Impact
This deal is expected to generate meaningful manufacturing revenue for Fabrinet, leveraging its high-mix, low-volume expertise. Volume production could improve utilization of existing facilities and bolster margins through scale and long-term supply agreements.
4. Future Growth and Extension
While the second-generation contract covers up to 1,500 units, Aurora’s later third-generation hardware will shift to a capital-light model with a different partner. Fabrinet could pursue additional collaborations if Aurora or other autonomous vehicle developers expand hardware programs.
