Fed's Collins warns in LinkedIn post of elevated inflation risks
TLT•Collins says inflation risks remain elevated
Sept. 22 (Reuters) - Federal Reserve Bank of Boston President Susan Collins wrote on Tuesday she supported last week’s central bank interest rate increase amid the risks that future inflation will be above its 2% target.
“I now see an increased likelihood of future scenarios in which inflation remains notably above 2%,” Collins wrote on LinkedIn. “With the labor market on a better footing, monetary policy can focus on a timely return to price stability, especially after five and a half years of too-high inflation,” she said, adding “a somewhat more restrictive federal funds rate will help ensure that inflation durably returns to target.”
