Fed's Warsh sees US economic tailwinds, mum on rate-path view
TLT•Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh voiced optimism about US economic strength and global resilience but offered no preview of future rate decisions. He said US investment was broadening beyond AI and described the economy as having “plenty of tailwinds.”
1. No rate-path preview
Warsh said he would not prejudge upcoming Fed meetings or say what he might do for the rest of the year. He referred to the September interest-rate hike as removing “a dose of accommodation” and said the Fed had made clear it would deliver price stability.
2. Inflation and rate expectations
Warsh called inflation a common challenge and said central banks had tightened monetary policy in sync. Recent inflation measures were higher than expected, while financial markets were betting the Fed would wait until December to raise rates.
3. Economic resilience
Warsh said US investment was broadening beyond AI and described the economy as having “plenty of tailwinds.” He also said global economies had shown resilience despite geopolitical shocks.
