Ferrari's $640K Luce EV Delivers 1,000+ HP, 300-Mile Range; Stock Slides 3%
RACE•Ferrari unveiled its first fully electric five-seat Luce EV, featuring four motors, 1,000+ hp, 300+ mile range and $640,000 price, while its stock dropped 3% on investor concerns over the unconventional design. First-quarter deliveries fell 4.4% to 3,436 units although EBITDA margins stayed above 39%.
1. Luce EV Debut
Ferrari introduced the Luce as its first fully electric vehicle, boasting over 300 miles of range, four independent motors delivering more than 1,000 horsepower and a top speed near 200 mph. Priced at $640,000, the four-door, five-seat design was created in collaboration with Jony Ive’s LoveFrom and targets affluent families seeking tech-forward luxury.
2. Investor Reaction and Stock Performance
The unveiling prompted a 3% drop in Ferrari’s share price as investors questioned the shift from classic two-door sports cars and voiced concerns about preserving brand exclusivity. The departure toward a four-door layout and emphasis on high-tech features fueled skepticism about long-term demand for this novel segment.
3. Q1 Delivery Trends and Profitability
In the first quarter, Ferrari’s deliveries declined 4.4% to 3,436 units, yet its EBITDA margin remained robust above 39%, driven by demand for personalized and limited-run models. Potential new U.S. tariffs on European car imports pose a risk to North American margins, forcing Ferrari to consider price adjustments or cost absorption.
