FirstEnergy unit joins federally funded Pennsylvania grid modernization project
FE•FirstEnergy subsidiary KATCo was selected for an estimated $20.8 million, EPRI-led grid modernization initiative under the U.S. Department of Energy’s SPARK program. Its western Pennsylvania pilot represents about $20.2 million in jointly funded investment, with work expected to begin in early 2027.
