Flex LNG Signs Two-Year Charter for Flex Aurora, Lifts Backlog to 55 Years
Flex LNG has agreed a new two-year time charter for its 174,000 cbm LNG carrier Flex Aurora with a Supermajor, with extension options of 2+2+2 years potentially tying the vessel up until 2034. This deal raises the company‘s minimum contract backlog to 55 years (potentially 82 years) and will boost Q2 2026 earnings.
1. New Charter Agreement
Flex LNG has secured a minimum two-year time charter for Flex Aurora with a Supermajor, effective from its redelivery in March 2026. The charter includes three successive two-year extension options, enabling a total potential commitment of up to eight years, through 2034.
2. Contract Backlog Impact
This latest agreement increases Flex LNG‘s firm contract backlog to 55 vessel-years, rising to 82 vessel-years if all extension options are exercised. The expanded backlog enhances revenue visibility across the fleet of thirteen modern LNG carriers.
3. Earnings Contribution and Guidance
The new charter is expected to contribute positively to second-quarter 2026 earnings through added fixed-rate revenue. Given ongoing volatility in LNG shipping markets, full-year guidance from Q4 2025 may be reviewed and updated as warranted.
