AMZN•Flipkart’s Minutes service has deployed 1,000 micro-fulfillment centers in under two years and plans 1,500 by end-2026, making it second only to Blinkit’s 2,243 centers in India’s quick-commerce market. Amazon has built over 500 centers in 15 cities and targets 1,000 across 100 cities while expanding its product range.
1. Flipkart's Quick-Commerce Expansion
Flipkart’s Minutes service launched in August 2024 and has rapidly built a network of 1,000 micro-fulfillment centers in under two years. The company aims to reach 1,500 centers by end-2026, positioning itself as India’s second-largest quick-commerce operator behind Blinkit’s 2,243 centers.
2. Amazon's Micro-Fulfillment Rollout
Amazon Now currently operates over 500 micro-fulfillment centers across 15 cities and plans to expand to 100 cities with more than 1,000 centers. The service is broadening its assortment beyond groceries into electronics, apparel and home goods to capture a larger share of India’s fast-delivery market.
3. Intensifying Competition and Strategic Implications
Blinkit leads with the largest center network, while Zepto and Swiggy Instamart also pursue aggressive expansion. The rapid buildouts by Flipkart and Amazon require substantial capital investment, which may pressure margins in the short term but could drive long-term customer loyalty and revenue growth in India’s booming e-commerce sector.
