Fluor JV Completes CTA Red and Purple Line Modernization, Enabling Final Commissioning
FLR•Fluor's joint venture reached substantial completion on the Chicago Transit Authority's Red and Purple Line modernization project, concluding major construction deliverables and starting final commissioning phases. This milestone allows Fluor to recognize the remaining contract revenue and reduces its infrastructure backlog.
1. Project Substantial Completion
Fluor’s joint venture achieved substantial completion on the CTA Red and Purple Line modernization project as of mid-2026, delivering key track, station and systems upgrades across the corridor. Major construction work, including civil, mechanical and electrical systems, is finalized and handed over for testing and commissioning.
2. Backlog and Revenue Recognition
With construction deliverables completed, Fluor can now record the remaining contract revenue associated with the $2.1 billion program, trimming its infrastructure backlog. The final commissioning phase will validate system performance before full passenger service resumes, marking the end of Fluor’s involvement in this project.
