Ford is initiating a recall of 1.74 million US vehicles to address two rearview camera software defects that can produce blank, flipped or inverted images when a vehicle is in reverse, potentially impairing rearward visibility and crash prevention. The company reports no known accidents or injuries linked to these malfunctions.

The first defect impacts about 849,310 Ford Bronco models from 2021–2026 and Ford Edge models from 2021–2024, where camera modules may overheat and trigger a five-minute shutdown of the camera feed. The second defect affects roughly 889,950 SUVs, including 2020–2022 Ford Escape, 2020–2022 Lincoln Corsair and 2020–2024 Lincoln Aviator vehicles, which can display inverted touchscreen buttons and camera guidelines on startup.

Ford will implement free software updates to resolve both defects, with fixes for the inverted display issue scheduled for release by late June 2026. Once patches are finalized, affected owners will receive mailed notifications with instructions to visit dealerships for complimentary installation.
