Fortis Q2 2026 earnings rise as rate base growth and higher retail power sales lift results, company says
FTS•First-half earnings
First-half net earnings attributable to common shareholders rose to CAD 897 million; per-share earnings held at CAD 1.76 as share count increased.
Drivers of the quarterly increase
Management attributed the increase mainly to rate base growth across utilities, supported by higher retail electricity sales at UNS Energy.
Those gains were partly offset by higher costs tied to rate base growth not yet reflected in customer rates, timing of operating costs at UNS Energy, a shift in quarterly revenue at Central Hudson, higher holding company finance costs, foreign exchange and 2025 asset sales.
Q2 earnings and per-share results
Fortis posted Q2 2026 net earnings attributable to common shareholders of CAD 396 million, or CAD 0.78 per share, up from CAD 0.76.
