France estimates cost of new energy support package
PARIS, Sept. 22 (Reuters) - A new French support package to help consumers cope with surging oil prices is estimated to cost some 450 million euros, budget minister David Amiel said on Tuesday.
Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu's government faces pressure from unions in various sectors and opposition parties jostling for position ahead of the 2027 presidential election, who have criticised the government for failing to do more to address cost-of-living concerns.
